While you may be slightly early for the full bloom, the bluebells will certainly be sprouting at Rannerdale Knotts over the Easter period. This is one of our favourite Spring time outings in the Lake District, offering stunning views and a moderately challenging trail (you don’t have to do the full walk, you could just come and take in the views along the valley). If you do choose to do the full walk, you can expect a 2 and a half hours trek before reaching the summit.
This tasty extravaganza typically takes place over the Easter weekend, showcasing the best of Cumbria’s culinary highlights. Stalls, live cooking demonstrations, and activities for all ages take place throughout the festival, and it all kicks off in the centre of Keswick – so it’s an easy one to get to from your home-from-home at Snittlegarth.
Cat Bells is one of the most popular hiking trails for families visiting the Lake District, and it’ll be a popular summit during the Easter break! Make a packed lunch before heading out for the day, and start your hike up this treasured Wainwright.
Feeling creative? You could even come up with your own Easter egg trail! Follow a circular route like Buttermere, or head to Bassenthwaite Lake and pick some sneaky hiding places to stash the goods in – whether it’s actual chocolate eggs, or ornaments!
We have three Lake District lodges to choose from; Yan, Tyan, and Tethera, all situated in quiet corners of our working farm. Our stunning Lake District lodges have fully fitted kitchens, family and en-suite bathrooms, and a large lounge area with a kitchen and living space. Step outside onto the balcony and you’ll find your own private patio, where you can enjoy a coffee before setting off on your adventure for the day.
We have 2 ample log cabins at Snittlegarth, and both boast amazing views of the nearby Binsey Fell. Wake up in your own secluded corner of a working Cumbrian farm, and cook a hearty family breakfast in the cabin’s modern, well-appointed kitchen before beginning a day of exploring the Lake District.
Fancy an extra-special stay for your time in the Lake District? Choose our luxurious luxury Lake District shepherd’s hut! This stay is perfect for couples and families, and it comes with underfloor heating, a king-size bedroom, a fully fitted kitchen and an outdoor firepit.
