About our location
The original Snittlegarth Estate was owned by Lord Gillford, and it extended to 12,000 acres. It is now farmed on a smaller scale, and benefits from easy access to local footpaths to Binsey Fell and beyond. Our three holiday lodges are also within easy reach of some of the most scenic spots in the National Park, including Buttermere, Grasmere, and Ambleside.

Lodge Yan
Located on a working farm in a small, private development, just for you, your loved ones and nature. The lodges are a haven for wildlife, as well as farm animals. Snittlegarth is home to roe deer, red squirrels and a variety of song and garden birds.

Lodge Tyan
With beautiful views of Binsey, Snittlegarth lies in a great location and a truly tranquil valley close to Ireby and Uldale on the northern fringe of the Lake District National Park. Tyan, meaning “Two” in Cumbrian, has fabulous balcony views of cattle and native Cumbrian Herdwick sheep in the fields infront.

Lodge Tethera
Tethera means three in Cumbrian which is a dialect that is still widely used across Cumbria and has several variations depending on the area of Cumbria, it is mainly used by farmers especially in the hills and fells of our wonderful county. We are in a quiet location within the Lake District surrounded by farm animals however in a short reach of the hustle and bustle of Keswick.

Bringing your four-legged companion along for your trip to the Lake District? Our lodges, Yan, Tyan and Tethera, are dog friendly, so you’ll be able to explore the local area or enjoy long walks during the day, knowing that you can relax together in the evenings in your cosy holiday lodge in Cumbria. There’s also a huge dog playground, so your pets can spend plenty of time playing in a safe, enclosed space. Our shepherd’s hut and log cabins are also dog-friendly, so you’re certain to find an accommodation choice that suits you on our Cumbria farm stay.
